630 KJ counterblow hammer for forgings

DIE FORGE

High-precision forging contours in the dies ensure that the downstream mechanical production processes run very efficiently. 450 or 630 kJ counterblow hammers are used for the purpose of die-forging. The chamber furnaces bring the forgings to a temperature of up to 1,300°C. The forgings can weigh up to 2.6 t and be up to 4.5 m in length. Depending on the weight, three to five passages featuring heating and forging are required. By ensuring optimum fibre flow, die-forging also helps achieve excellent component strength. 

The forgings are heated to 1,300°C in the chamber furnaces, then transported to the forging hammers.

A heated crankshaft forging is transported from the chamber furnace to the counterblow hammer.

The forging process comprises multiple heating and forging stages until the forging with the desired contour has been formed from the billet.
